Deandre Ayton Parents: Alvin Ayton, Andrea Ayton
Ayton was born in the Bahamas and grew up watching older kids play basketball after school. After playing in a church league against much older kids, Deandre, who was 12 at the time, joined a summer basketball program.
At the time, the 6ft 5in lad was playing the tuba and enjoyed soccer.
Despite this, he was seen by the All Bahamian Brand, who was touring Bahamas Academy High School.
Ayton eventually moved to San Diego, California, to play high school basketball, and everyone could see his natural ability and potential.
DeAndre spent the remaining two years of his high school career at Hillcrest Prep in Phoenix, Arizona, where he had relocated with his mother.

Deandre’s parents are Alvin and Andrea Ayton. His father was Nigerian, and his mother was Jamaican/Bahamian, and they lived in Nassau, Bahamas.
Despite the challenges, Andrea, the 7ft 1in, 250-pound centre, has always had a strong bond with her son.
When DeAndre moved to the United States, his family faced a very difficult decision.
