Zac Efron almost died after accident at home knocked him out completely
Zac Efron has told of how a freak accident that he had whilst at his home 10 years ago almost killed him and left him with a shattered jaw.
The horror fall took the celebrity by surprise, and left him needing surgery. It even effected how the movie star ate and spoke, and led to a long recovery. Despite the horrible ordeal, fans believed the Bad Neighbors star splashed out on plastic surgery – but he broke his silence over those rumors. As the Hollywood actor turns 36, we look back at the scary accident.
Zac Efron suffered a freak accident at home
Talking to Entertainment Tonight, the High School Musical actor said: “It sucks. I almost died, but we’re good.”
The 35-year-old reportedly slipped and fell after not seeing a puddle which was near the entrance of his home in 2013.
The injury knocked him out and left his chin “hanging off his face,” with the injury requiring him to have surgery and his jaw wired shut.
He ended up having physical therapy to help with his facial muscles, the masseter ones, which help you chew food. He said that after the accident they swelled.
The Internet is obsessed over plastic surgery rumors
In the same interview, Zac Efron – who has been compared to a Ken Doll – also said he found the internet’s obsession with his face and the idea that he’d had surgery on his face “funny.”
“My mom told me. I don’t really read the internet, so, I don’t really give a f**k,” he mused.
Rumors started to swirl about everyone’s 2000s celebrity crush after a video of him promoting his 2021 film Earth Day, which also starred Bill Nye.
Friends of Zac’s said he hadn’t had surgery, including Australian radio show host Kyle Sandilands. He said in a discussion with his co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson on their radio show: “I would know if he’d had any plastic surgery. [Zac getting plastic surgery would be] like getting a Picasso and having a kid finger paint all over it. Why bother?”
Zac doesn’t care what others think
In an interview with Men’s Health, he said that he couldn’t have been an actor if it kept him awake at night.
He explained: “If I valued what other people thought of me to the extent that they may think I do, I definitely wouldn’t be able to do this work.
He generally avoids using apps like Instagram and Twitter (now X) unless it’s to promote a film he’s starring in or a project he’s working on.
